Happy Valentines Day

I don’t know what is more fitting for a day like today other than this husband tag. I’ve seen a few other bloggers do it and since today is all about love I thought it would be a fun post for today!

How and where did we meet?

Bobby: Bec you already know where…..at a friends birthday.

Rebecca: We met at a birthday party for a mutual friend at the time the summer of 2012.

What was your first impression?

Bobby: What the hell is the matter with this girl.

Rebecca: My first impression was woah this guy is really hot! Then we didn’t talk the whole night until legit maybe 3o minutes before we were about to leave and then it was like we had known each other forever, his sense of humor was the first thing that stood out to me as well.

The night we went to Toby’s and you “got sick”, it was the first night I had to take care of you and was up all night worrying about you just wanting you to be okay. 2. Seeing you with my cousins the first Christmas they came home and watching you and Nichole cry. 3. The way you always make me feel like I’m the most important/beautiful/funny person in the room even though I know I’m not.

When and why did you fall in love me?

Bobby: I fell in love with you the night you told me you hated me and then you told me you loved me.

Rebecca: Same. I was scared I felt it quicker than I thought I should.

How long have we been together? Relationship & marriage.

Bobby: That’s easy. 5 years and 6 months

Rebecca: 5 years! And we’ll be married in less than a year.

How do you resolve problems?

Bobby: We usually argue at first but then we sit down and talk about them.

Rebecca: We’re both very stubborn so we get heated pretty quick but what we fight about is nothing serious, I would say most of the time we talk our stuff through.

Bobby: I didn’t go to college.  Currently I’m a Manufacturing Manager.

Rebecca: I am an Office Manager and not really using my degree at the moment.

What key elements make a successful relationship & marriage?

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a busy one, but filled with some great memories that I will cherish forever. Although the events may seem small I love going through life with some of the most amazing people!

Friday | I had a sleep over with one of my besties and my cousin Friday night to kick of the fun weekend. The girls got to my house later around 9pm, so I had time to do a few errands, prep for my moms surprise party and get in my final BBG workout for the week in. I have been sore all week from these workouts even though I have been doing them for a month. I am restarting them next week because Bobby wants to do them with me! Every other day I have been doing 30 minutes of cardio. I am feeling so good about myself lately and I think a lot of that has to do with me being consistent with my working out and eating better.

Saturday | I made the girls, myself and bobby breakfast – yummy omelets with bacon, cheese, and tomato! Then we headed to the bridal store to search for the bridesmaids dresses. It was so much fun! I am letting the ladies pick their own style so it was nice to see how each girl picked a different dress, I love my ladies so much but they really are such a diverse group of girls and I’m so glad no one picked the same dress. Then it was time to prepare for my Mom’s surprise party.

Nichole and I then had a lot of stuff to get done before the party, thank god I had her helping me. From dress shopping we went to get the cake, and started to set up the room. We left plenty of time for us to just hang so we brought stuff to keep us occupied. My mom was really so surprised and it was a great night spent with some of the family and a few friends!

Sunday | Ahh a nice relaxing day. I slept in and then went to my first weight waters class with my friend Danielle. We went to visit Bobby’s grandma and grocery shopping. We spent the rest of the day lounging at home. It was such a crappy rainy day that Lola & Bobby slept all afternoon while I watched the movie Gifted and snuggled up with my most recent read What She Saw by Gerard Sternbridge.

Hope this week treats you well!

Hello February

Hi Friends! Long time no talk. This past month definitely went by quicker than I expected. Too quick if you ask me because I feel like I got nothing accomplished. I didn’t even make any goals for last month which allowed me to just enjoy the start of the new year. We have so much to look forward to in the spring, summer and fall that I am really happy that these winter months are going by quick.

February Goals:
  • continue with BBG
  • reorganize our back bedroom
  • stuff and stamp our save the dates
  • get our engagement photo book ordered
  • continue to read 3 books a month
  • celebrate valentines day with bobby
  • book our honeymoon
  • schedule all March blog posts

Thats all I have for this month. I’ll be sharing a wedding update sometime this month and I will also share which save the date we picked as soon as we send them out 🙂

Hope ya’ll are having a great week!

Choosing Our Save the Dates

Happy Wednesday friends! Once we received our engagement photos I immediately began to look into the different options for save the dates. I am a member of this wedding group for MA & RI and it has been really helpful with suggestions. I saw a lot of recommendations to get save the dates from Vistaprint, Shutterfly, Etsy and Minted.

Bobby & I talked quite a bit about whether we wanted to send out save the dates, we just didn’t know if it was worth the money because we aren’t getting married on a holiday weekend and 99% of our guest are local. We simply decided to send them out because we are at that age where we know a lot of people who have many weddings coming up and we want them to remember ours! Plus I think they are a fun way to begin the wedding countdown.

We have received quite a bit of Save the Dates the past few years as Bobby & I are at that age where EVERYONE we know is getting married, so I’ve seen quite the variety. I knew early on that I wanted to order our save the dates from Minted, since I love all of their stuff but the only thing holding me back was the cost. In the end I decided that we would still go with them anyway. There are three things that I really wanted when looking into our options of who to order through.

1. Free envelope addressing. Because we all know who is gonna get stuck addressing the bad boys and I do not want hand cramps for a week.
2. Ability to add your photo. Because why spend money on engagement photos if no-one gets to see them.
3. High-quality. This wasn’t a need but I really wanted save the dates that didn’t look cheap – just because these are something all of our guests are going to see.

1 / 2 / 3

I ordered 10 samples from minted a few months ago and Bobby and I sat down to look at them all, we selected our favorites. From there I think the trickiest part was finding a picture that fit well into those designs. Scroll to the bottom and leave a comment to cast your vote on which option is your favorite! I honestly love all three of them.

Our Engagement Photos!

As of today we have 283 days until the big day! We have had our photos back for some time now and I thought today I would share a few of my favorites with you. Its really crazy how quick time goes by when you’re planning a wedding. I feel like Bobby proposed yesterday when in reality it has already been 10 months!

We had so much fun during our engagement session with our Photographer Bob. He really made us feel so comfortable and we really enjoyed being around him.

For our photos I wanted to do two outfits, and because Bobby and I cheer for different football teams what would be more fun then repping our teams.

We also obviously wanted to include our fur baby in a few photos. And she loves every minute of it – she really is such photogenic pup. We love our Lola girl.

One of my favorite parts of these  photos is the fact that you can see our personalities shine through. It was such windy and crappy day so my hair which was nicely done ended up looking like poo – but you can still see how much Bobby makes me laugh. I kept out the ones where I was laughing a little too hard – but seriously find someone with a great sense of humor because it makes life so much more fun!

We chose to have our photos done at one of Bobby’s favorite fishing spots, but it also turns out that it is a VERY popular place to get photos done. One of the reasons I picked this place is for this beautiful dock…well there was a huge line we had to wait in to get to it and in almost all of the photos we have on it people are in the background..sigh.

I love how they turned out messy hair and all. These pictures capture who we are as people and as a couple and I am so excited for our wedding day to be here! October 20th 2018 is bound to be the best day yet.

2018 Travel Goals

This year we don’t have much on our travel list because we are spending much of our money on the wedding. Butttt we do have a few trips in mind that won’t break the bank we would like to do before the wedding and we have our honeymoon destination picked out so obviously thats on this list!

  1. Vermont. I really want to learn to ski this year. I want to have hobby that both Bobby and I can do once we have kids and I think skiing would be great for us to both learn at the same time. There are quite a few mountains within a close drive that we can learn before going away for a weekend.
  2. Cape Cod. A few day trips. Some of my favorite memories are with Bobby down on Cape Cod. We didn’t make it there much this past year but I would like to take a few trips this summer doing the things we love.
  3. Hawaii. This I cannot wait for. I already bought two dresses for this trip. We are going to do two islands Maui and Oahu. We go sit with a travel agent in a few weeks to get it all booked! If you have any recommendations please send them my way! I’ve literally been in honeymoon planning mode for the past few weeks and have been reading blogs and pinteresting my life away.
  4. Atlanta. This will be a post wedding trip. We will take a long weekend to go see the Falcons play since we weren’t able to this year. Bobby is all sorts of hyped because of their new stadium.

To be honest these few things would be fun to do but if we only make it to Hawaii for our honeymoon this year I would be okay with that too. I think 2019 will be our year of travel and enjoying life as newlyweds.

Where do you guys hope to travel to this year?

My Last Reads of 2017

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – Taylor Jenkins Reid

Summary: Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband, David, has left her, and her career has stagnated. Regardless of why Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s Upper East Side apartment, Monique listens as Evelyn unfurls her story: from making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the late 80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way. As Evelyn’s life unfolds through the decades—revealing a ruthless ambition, an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love—Monique begins to feel a very a real connection to the actress. But as Evelyn’s story catches up with the present, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways. – via good reads

My thoughts: This was another great read by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It was an incredibly interesting story, and it gave you a great group of strong characters. It has everything that makes a book a great read, from good characters, some romance, and even some twists that give it a little mystery.

Favorite quote: “Never let anyone make you feel ordinary.”

Should you read it? Definitely yes!

Winter Storms – Elin Hilderbrand

Summary: Some of the stormy weather of the past few seasons seems to have finally lifted for the Quinns. After a year apart, and an ill-fated affair with the Winter Street Inn’s old Santa Claus, Mitzi has returned to rule the roost; Patrick is about to be released from prison; Kevin has a successful new business and is finally ready to tie the knot with Isabelle; and best of all, there’s hopeful news about Bart, who has been captured by enemy forces in Afghanistan.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t a few dark clouds on the horizon. Kelley has recently survived a health scare; Jennifer can’t quite shake her addiction to the drugs she used as a crutch while Patrick was in jail; and Ava still can’t decide between the two lovers that she’s been juggling with limited success. However, if there’s one holiday that brings the Quinn family together to give thanks for the good times, it’s Christmas. And this year promises to be a celebration unlike any other as the Quinns prepare to host Kevin and Isabelle’s wedding at the inn. But as the special day approaches, a historic once-in-a-century blizzard bears down on Nantucket, threatening to keep the Quinns away from the place–and the people–they love most. Before the snow clears, the Quinns will have to survive enough upheavals to send anyone running for the spiked eggnog, in this touching novel that proves that when the holidays roll around, you can always go home again. – via good reads

My thoughts: This is the third installment of the series and boy did this one throw me two curve balls that I didn’t see coming. This series has made me want to take a trip to Nantucket this winter to see if its a beautiful as described! I am a Marthas Vineyard girl myself as I spent my summers growing up there – but the way Elin Hildebrand describes the island it sounds so beautiful. I just ordered the 4th book so I’m hoping its here soon! This is a perfect series to read around the holidays!

Favorite quote: “When you’re in love, every day is like a present you get to open.”

Should you read it? Yep. But only if you’ve read the previous two books!

Behind Closed Doors – B.A. Paris

Summary: Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace: he has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You’d like to get to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love.

Picture this: a dinner party at their perfect home, the conversation and wine flowing. They appear to be in their element while entertaining. And Grace’s friends are eager to reciprocate with lunch the following week. Grace wants to go, but knows she never will. Her friends call—so why doesn’t Grace ever answer the phone? And how can she cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim?

And why are there bars on one of the bedroom windows?

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie? – via good reads

My thoughts: This book was a pretty quick read because although the description kind of gives away the story, it is full of thrill which made me want to know what happens for Jack & Grace. Although I don’t think any other book I have read has made me hate a character as much as this one.

Favorite quote: None.

Should you read it? I am torn. It was a book that I thought was good because it was suspenseful but isn’t on the top of my list of “yes you should read”. Part of this is because I hated Jack SO MUCH.

The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult

Summary: An astonishing novel about redemption and forgiveness from the “amazingly talented writer” (Huffington Post) and #1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult.

Some stories live forever . . .

Sage Singer is a baker. She works through the night, preparing the day’s breads and pastries, trying to escape a reality of loneliness, bad memories, and the shadow of her mother’s death. When Josef Weber, an elderly man in Sage’s grief support group, begins stopping by the bakery, they strike up an unlikely friendship. Despite their differences, they see in each other the hidden scars that others can’t.

Everything changes on the day that Josef confesses a long-buried and shameful secret and asks Sage for an extraordinary favor. If she says yes, she faces not only moral repercussions, but potentially legal ones as well. With the integrity of the closest friend she’s ever had clouded, Sage begins to question the assumptions and expectations she’s made about her life and her family. In this searingly honest novel, Jodi Picoult gracefully explores the lengths to which we will go in order to keep the past from dictating the future. – via good reads

My thoughts: Besides being a pretty long book, it was one of the best books I have read in a long time. I love books that are fiction but bring in my favorite part of history which is the Holocaust. Jodi Picoult is such a great author and this book definitely is in the top of ones by hers that I’ve read.

Favorite quote: There are all sorts of losses people suffer – from the small to the large. You can lose you keys, your glasses, your virginity. You can lose your head, you can lose your heart, you can lose your mind. You can relinquish your home to move into assisted living, or have a child move overseas, or see a spouse vanish into dementia. Loss is more than just death, and grief is the gray shape-shifter of emotion.

Should you read it? YES! YES! YES! Did I mention yes?!
