Our Engagement Party

HAPPY TUESDAY! This weekend was by far one of the best weekends this year yet! So of course I had to share with you guys. Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine!

Saturday morning started out with my favorite donuts ever Allies Donuts! If you’re ever in the RI area you gotta check them out.  Then mid morning there were TORRENTIAL downpours and guys I was so nervous that the weather wouldn’t clear by the time of the party, but thankfully it did!

I wanted to share some photos of our engagement party with you all. My parents hosted the most amazing party at my aunts house with the help of my aunt & uncle and Bobby’s parents. We were surrounded by family, friends, and some of our soon-to-be wedding party (we haven’t asked yet!). The party was amazing and kicked off the next year and a half of wedding festivities just how I imagined.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to all of the family that pulled this party off. We couldn’t be any luckier to have so much love given to us and we CANNOT wait to celebrate with everyone again at the wedding!

Book Review: The Couple Next Door

Title: The Couple Next Door
Author: Shari Lapena
Genre: Thriller
Publication Date: July 14, 2016
Rating: ★★★★

It all started at a dinner party. . .

A domestic suspense debut about a young couple and their apparently friendly neighbors—a twisty, rollercoaster ride of lies, betrayal, and the secrets between husbands and wives. . .

Anne and Marco Conti seem to have it all—a loving relationship, a wonderful home, and their beautiful baby, Cora. But one night when they are at a dinner party next door, a terrible crime is committed. Suspicion immediately focuses on the parents. But the truth is a much more complicated story.

Inside the curtained house, an unsettling account of what actually happened unfolds. Detective Rasbach knows that the panicked couple is hiding something. Both Anne and Marco  soon discover that the other is keeping secrets, secrets they’ve kept for years.

What follows is the nerve-racking unraveling of a family—a chilling tale of  deception, duplicity, and unfaithfulness that will keep you breathless until the final shocking twist.

I picked this up after seeing a few recommendations from fellow bloggers, since at the moment I am really into these types of stories. My soon-to-be sister in law and me keep giving each other recommendations and she read this one too. While the story keeps you guessing throughout the whole book, the characters were not my favorite & they did not impress me that much. But what was more important than the characters was the way the author gets right into the story and takes us on a crazy journey of who did what and why.

I was glued to the book from the get go and it only took my 3 (work) days to read because the way its written keeps you completely engaged in the story. For once I didn’t guess what could have possibly happened, and was taken by surprise towards the end when you start finding out these surprises you never thought were going to happen. I definitely recommend this book to you!

“…nobody makes that much money without taking advantage of somebody. It’s much easier to make money if you don’t care who you hurt. If you have scruples, it’s much harder to get rich.”

“He stares at her back and thinks about how much she has changed since the baby was born. It was entirely unexpected. They’d looked forward to the baby so much together–decorating the nursery, shopping for baby things, attending the birth-preparation classes, feeling the baby kick in her tummy. They had been some of the happiest months of his life. It had never occurred to him that it would be hard afterward. He hadn’t seen it coming.”

Summer Bucket List

I’m not sure if I have mentioned it on the blog, but Summer is not my favorite season. To be completely honest it is WAY to hot for me most days and all I want to do is sit in a nice cold A/C house. But since we only have a short window of nice weather here in New England I definitely like to make the most of it. Here are some fun things I want to accomplish this summer!

  • Plan something fun to celebrate Bobby’s 30th birthday in July.
  • Go to an escape room. I did one while I was in Nashville and have been dying to do another one since I got home.
  • Attend a few of my cousins soccer games – loving having them back in our neck of the woods so I can go to as many of his games as I can!
  • Go camping.
  • Visit a lazy river with the family. There is a place in Connecticut where you can River Tube that we plan on checking out.
  • Boston Pizza Tour. Thinking about checking out this one.
  • Publish a few drink recipe blog posts. I have so many summer drinks on my pinterest and would love to post about my favorites.
  • Make homemade Ice Cream. Bobby’s parents got me a ice cream maker for Christmas a few years back – I definitely don’t use it enough!
  • Make the perfect s’more. Like these or these.
  • Make the perfect sangria for girls nights.
  • Have an outdoor picnic with Bobby & Lola.
  • Cape Trips.
  • Bring Lola Swimming.

Are you planning on doing anything fun this summer?!

June Goals

Sweet Elements.jpg

This month kinda snuck up on me. It’s like I blinked my eyes and the year was already half way over. I am keeping my goals very attainable for this month, since most of the weekends are jam packed.

  • read three books
  • one date night with Bobby
  • drink more water – goal is 100oz
  • send in deposit to our photographer & videographer
  • switch over this blog – this continues to be on my list until i finally take the plunge!
  • register for MTEL
  • get curtains for the bedroom
  • start researching DJ’s
  • get back into my beachbody routine –  i was loving the 22 Minute Hard Corps until I fell behind and just stopped all together

What are some goals that you have made for this month?

We Have A Venue & Date!

We’re halfway through the week and I couldn’t be more excited about that! We have been trudging along with wedding planning these last few months and I couldn’t be happier to share that we have picked our venue!

Picking the venue is probably one of, if not the biggest decisions of the whole wedding, and in my opinion so far it has definitely the hardest. Bobby and I knew the time of year that we wanted to get married and we knew we wanted it to be next year so we didn’t have much time to decided in order to secure the date.

We looked at three venues total – all were barn venues. Of the three we hated one, liked one, and loved one. In the end we decided to go with the one we liked, in order to make our budget work.

The Venue: Bittersweet Farm – Westport MA

Bittersweet Farm is set on 29 acres of farmland in Westport, Massachusetts. It dates back to the 1920s, and allows for us to have an outdoor ceremony & cocktail hour with an indoor reception. It has a beautiful rustic atmosphere and we cannot wait to get married here.

The BIG day: October 20, 2018

It seems so so so far away but right now we are both just enjoying this time of being engaged and we know that the wedding day will be here before we know it. What they say is true, time flies when you’re having fun! We have our first wedding event at the end of the month – our engagement party. We are so blessed with the most amazing family to be throwing it for us! We are eagerly awaiting it to be here!

If anyone has any wedding planning tips, please drop a comment below. I am all ears for some advice!
