Grateful.Thankful. Blessed.

This time of year always gives people the time to reflect on so many things. I find myself thinking how grateful I am throughout the year, but there is something about November that inspires us all to be vocal about what we are thankful for.

i’m grateful for my job. when your employed you don’t think about a time where that may not always be the case. after losing my job in September it has made me more grateful for the opportunity to be employed now.

i’m grateful for the opportunity to travel. so many people don’t have the opportunities to visit the places they love and I am so glad that I do. traveling is such a passion of mine and I can’t wait for this next year and all the traveling we will do!

i’m grateful for my fiancé.  i know this one is obvious. but he is the best man i have ever ever had the chance to know.  he is funny, he is annoying, he is such a hard worker, he is loving, and the list can go on and on. i truly feel like he was placed on this earth for me. i CANNOT wait for our wedding day! #334days

i’m grateful for Lola. my fur baby may be last on this list but she has such huge piece of my heart. this girl really has no idea how much she has blessed our lives the past year and a half. she truly is our best friend. she knows how to make you giggle when you need it the most, she has the most energetic temperament I have seen, she loves everyone she meets and she is the best cuddle buddy around.

This year has been such a whirlwind for Bobby & I with the engagement and so many other wonderful memories that we have been able to experience! The biggest blessings in my life are all the people I am lucky to have in it. My parents, my aunt & uncles and cousins to my soon to be in laws, and of course my best friends – the family I get to chose for myself – there aren’t enough words in the dictionary to describe how much I love and appreciate them all!

we are heading to NYC Wednesday morning and I am so excited! I hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving!

Weekend Recap – Celebrating Dad’s 50th!

This weekend was all about my dad. My mom and I with the help of family and friends were able to pull off the best surprise party on Saturday night.

My dad is a hardcore Patriots fan – so it was only fitting that we did a football themed party. We also asked everyone to wear their favorite teams to the party and I was surprised at how many people showed up wearing their gear.

We made meatballs and my dads famous sauce (he actually made it) with pasta, jalapeño wontons, and had a few platters for people to enjoy. We got dads cake from one of the best bakery around Whites Bakery and an Ice Cream cake (per dads request) from our favorite local shop The Ice Cream Machine.

My dad had the best time and I am so happy we were able to pull this off. This is the second surprise party this year that I’ve planned – I am happy its the last, because while they’re so much fun they’re stressful!

Have a great week everyone!

We’re heading into this weekend getting all of the final details ready to celebrate one of the most special guys in my life’s birthday – my Dad! He turns the Big 5-0 this year and my mom & I have been working extra hard to plan a surprise party just for him. Other than that I have been getting into the Christmas spirit for sure the past week. I think we will be decorating next weekend for the holidays since we will be gone for Thanksgiving – our normal routine is to decorate the house thanksgiving night!

  1. With the holidays on the brain I have been wanting to find the perfect cinnamon roll recipe. I think we’re going to try this yummy looking recipe.
  2. One of my favorite holiday shows is back….the Holiday Baking Championship! I would love to have the baking skills to be on that show. It looks like so much fun!
  3. I ordered a few books off of amazon for this month – First Comes Love, Small Great Things & Everything You Want Me To Be, I also have Behind Closed Doors on its way from an earlier order that I’m excited to get into.
  4. I love all things Christmas, so there is no surprise that I have been looking to order some matching PJ’s for our little family! I found some that I love on zulily.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend! Can’t wait to share next week how this weekend went!

Wedding Planning Update II

I’m back today on this fine Wednesday to share a little wedding update. Can I admit something completely embarrassing while I’m at it? Have any of you other ladies while planning your wedding, had moments of just needing to let a cry out? Not even because of being stressed (I haven’t gotten to that point just yet) but because your just so excited to marry your best friend and to start such an amazing part of your lives together. Well I have had quite a few of those moments lately. I am just soaking in this engagement with Bobby and planning one of the most special days with him is so much more fun then I had ever imagined.

So with less than a year to go; here’s where we are at with planning!

WHAT WE’VE DONE SO FAR:

  • We took our engagement photos! We wanted to wait until fall & the foliage was at the peak to do our photos, well with all the warm weather it wasn’t a fall as I wanted but thats okay. They were taken a few weeks ago, our photographer said the turn around for the photos would be 4-6 weeks so we should be getting them back around Thanksgiving! Thankfully we got a sneak peak, otherwise i’d been going nuts! We loved our photographer Bob and can’t wait to work with him again for the wedding! He worked with us so well and really made us feel so comfortable.
  • I said yes to the dress! I was but wasn’t looking forward to this. It was by far the funnest part of planning to date and I felt like million bucks the entire time. That appointment really made things feel “real” with only one year to go until the big day I am starting to check things off our list little by little!
  • We decided where to register! We choose to do Target and Bed Bath & Beyond. I feel like this will be a great day date for Bobby and I to do this month or next. I have been reading quite a bit of blogs to figure out what to register for. We already live together so we’re mostly going to be just updating all of the hand me downs we received when we bought our house to things that we actually like.
  • Booked the hotel block for wedding guest for the night before and the night of the wedding.

WHAT WE STILL NEED TO DO:

  • Book a florist. I am still looking for inspiration of what I want for my bouquet and centerpieces. I think we have figured out what we are doing for the aisle decorations, boutonnieres and bridesmaids bouquets. Once I have figured out what I want I will reach out to a few places for pricing and research the heck out of the internet for some of the best places around.
  • Cake. We haven’t decided what to do for our cake. I have a few places we need to call to set up tastings. I hopefully will get this done by the end of the month.
  • Bridesmaid Dresses. Now that I have my dress, we can go start looking around for bridesmaid dresses. All I know is that I want the girls to be in long dresses, in a certain designer and the same color. I want to let the girls choose the style they feel the best in, but we will see when we go start to try some on.
  • I’ve started making a list of places to have our rehearsal dinner. Once the holidays are over I am hoping to sit down with everyone and decide on what works within the budget and make a invite list and start to look for invitations.
  • Book the honeymoon. Again once the holidays are over, we plan to go sit with AAA and/or a travel agent to get some pricing. We’re pretty set on a destination but haven’t planned much besides picking a place.
  • All the little details…. there are so many things that you don’t think of when you first start planning that can easily get overwhelming – I am trying my best to pick up things over time so I don’t have to worry so much come next year.

Weekend Recap

The last weekend of my favorite month. You have gone by too quickly October! This weekend we celebrated Halloween with some friends, did a deep clean and relaxed.

Friday night we did some last minute shopping for Bobby’s costume – and by last minute I mean we had to buy the whole thing. He didn’t decide what he wanted to be until Friday night. After going to savers and wal-mart we headed to my favorite place to eat Mediterranean.

Saturday I went for a walk with a good friend and our pups, picked up Nichole from cheer, and then I napped before we headed out to the annual Mylod halloween party.

English Muffin & a Wet Bandit 😉

Sunday we got up at the crack of dawn to get our grocery shopping done. Not only were we awake but the pats were on and the forecast was calling for some horrible weather so we wanted to beat the rush. Good thing we did, we got to the grocery store at 7:30 and let me tell you it was already busy enough where legit every checkout had a line.

When we got home we vegged all day and did some cleaning around the house. Lola had a blast playing outside while the weather was nice….I wonder what she did…

Wasn’t much on the agenda for this weekend and thankfully it looks like this weekend coming up will be a lazy one too. Have a great week!

Whats Up Wednesday

WUW

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Tonight we’re trying this Taco Pizza. I have been literally making every crackpot recipe I can find lately though. I don’t know about everyone else, but the last thing I want to do is cook when i get home from work.

2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
This time of year always seems like the most hectic with the best activities. There is always so much to reminisce about. The halloween parties that we go to every year, the weddings that we have attended that were the best time. Our yearly Salem trips. My ‘on this day’ on Facebook lately has had so much stuff to look back on!

3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
EVERYTHING!

4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
This month was so busy for us. Bobby went salmon fishing. I went wedding dress shopping. We did basic fall things. Had many dog park trips.

5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Not anything at the moment! 🙂

6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I have a long list of holiday prep going on.. I have Halloween baking to do for the two parties we have Saturday, just started creating the Christmas dinner menu, I want to get our christmas shopping completed by the end of next month, trying to decide if we will send out christmas cards since our save the dates will go out shortly after the holidays, and to start making a packing list for New York City for thanksgiving week.

7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
All of the fun things in the next two months of HOLIDAYS! I am really excited to spend Thanksgiving in NYC. It was a bucket list item of my Gramps and it gives me some type of comfort knowing that he is watching us do the things he loved and wanted to do but was to sick. I decided to do my ornament swap again this year so i’m really excited for that. We are hosting our first christmas which is exciting! And we are getting ready to buy a new couch! So much fun things happening around these parts.

8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I’m almost done with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – so far it is a great read… watching the usual Grey’s, This is Us, Law & Order: SVU.

9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Russell Dickerson – his new album is perfect!

10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
Because we are going away for Thanksgiving I wanted to get myself a few new tops. I recently picked up a few fall things to pack with me.

11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
We have two Halloween parties this weekend! We may try to fit in going another fun activity Friday night as well.

12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
NYC! We have such a great agenda. I only wish that the tree would be lit up when we go but my FAVORITE part of the city during the holidays are the window displays. Also Bobby and I are sneaking away form the family for a bit on Friday

13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW: Not a whole lot! 🙂

Bonus question this month:  What is your favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish?
Hmmm. this is a hard one.. I would say turnip & carrots. my dad makes this dish every year and its one thing I miss if I don’t spend Thanksgiving with them.
