Happy Friday Friends! We’re heading into the weekend after a short week with me babysitting tonight & celebrating our friends birthday on Saturday night with Hibachi and Laser Tag! I love doing the currently posts because they are so random, here’s what I’m up to lately.

Wearing… It feels like spring around here, so I’ve been rockin some jeggings with some bright tops. The weather is making me have the urge to do some shopping for all things spring!

Watching… Have any of you seen Big Little Lies?! I read the book so I know the storyline, but the pilot episode was on this past Sunday and was SO good! Also obviously watching This Is Us, The Bachelor & Greys Anatomy.

Listening to… My favorite song at the moment is Lifer by Florida Georgia Line ❤ We’re hoping to see them when they come to town this summer!

Reading… I am 90% finished with Someday, Someday Maybe. I babysit tonight so I am hoping to finish that baby up before the weekend starts. It has not been my favorite read. Next up on my list to read is The Girl in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware.

Eating… Nothing too exciting to mention here. Need to get my butt in gear with eating healthy. I have a few healthy recipes I want to try next week!

Enjoying… We just finished painting our bedroom, as in we I mean Bobby. I am having fun re-decorating the space for us.

Loving… The weather here in New England! Its been in the 60’s the past few days ugh perfect weather!

Wishing… That I would stop being lazy and stick to the BBG program.

Looking forward to…I am counting down the weeks until our trip to Philly in the beginning of April.

How I met my BETTER half <3

Jumping on the bandwagon today and sharing how I met Bobby. It only seems fitting this time of year, I didnt have time to post this last week because it was a hectic one and our valentines day was a night well spent with my man and a classy dinner of BLT’s! I hope you enjoy reading our story as much as I enjoy reading yours!

I wish I had some fairytale way that Bobby & I met, like in high school/college or at work or at the gym, but I don’t it’s a plain jane as they come. At the time I had just graduated with my bachelors degree from Johnson and Wales University, I didn’t have a job, and I wasn’t really looking for anything serious I was just having a fun summer with my girlfriends (by far the best summer of my life!). It was the most laid back situation….we met at a mutual friends birthday party. One of my friends Izzy and I were as usual, casually late, and when we walked into the basement I immediately thought, “Who the heck is that hottie with his ball cap on backwards!” that was August of 2012.

That night we both went on doing our own thing, talking to friends we had, playing beer pong, etc. and I don’t think I spent that much time talking to Bobby, he spent most of the night chatting with Izzy – who at the time was dating her now husband! But as always she was the best wing woman. As the night went on I found myself having some liquid courage and started to talk with him and flirt a bit – we then ended up playing around by the pool and somehow we were able to get Bobby in fully clothed! I can remember to this day how pissed he was because he had on a nice pair of shoes that got ruined. All of this led to Bobby walking me to the car and asking for my number. About a two weeks later, I finally decided to say yes to a date with Bobby, he literally asked so many times in that two weeks…I’ll never forget it! I had two of my besties sitting in the chilis parking lot just in case I needed to bail!

So just like that one night, has turned into almost 5 amazing years with my better half.

Favorites on a Sunday

New England just got hit with some crazy snow from Winter Storm Niko and I am not complaining because it got me a snow day. And today I am writing this post from my bed because it’s snowing again and I need the heating blanket! We had the most perfect snow day last week- soup for dinner, playing in the snow with my pup, and catching up on some reading! I am hoping for another tomorrow. here are some of my favorites for this week 🙂

one. we compromised on a paint color for our bedroom! we tested out for different colors and we decided one Sherwin Williams Modernist Grey – except Bobby doesn’t like Sherwin Williams paint so we got it color matched with Valspar paint. We took down everything off the walls this weekend so we can start to paint!

two. my taxes are done. HALLELUJAH! this year we are planning to save our tax money…ALL of it. It will take some restraint not to go out and buy stuff we don’t need, but having a good chunk of change in the savings will surely be better.

three. Crockpot Lasagna Tortellini Soup. I tried out this recipe and OMG so freaking good!

four. we bought a new sign to hang up in our bedroom above the bed. I am in love with it. I cannot wait for you guys to see the before and after’s of our room! right now we have 4 frames of pictures of us above the bed and those are going to move to a different wall. I am probably going to change the photos too.

What are some of your favorites?! I did a big beauty hall that I’ll be sharing this week, but would love to hear what some of your favorite products are!

Homemade Puppy Birthday Cake

I am all about celebrating our loved ones – and that includes my four legged baby. When I looked all over the web for the perfect cake for Lola – I kept in mine her favorites, because she is a picky table food eater when it comes to the food she can actually eat. Carrots and peanut butter are two of Lola’s favorites so I knew I wanted to incorporate both of those into her cake. I shared below the recipe I used!

PB & Carrot Dog Birthday Cake:

  • 1 cup white or whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 egg

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°

Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a small round pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 container of baby food bananas
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Mix ingredients together and use to frost cake.

If you have a birthday coming up for your fur baby, definitely try this out! It was a hit for our girl and i’m sure it will be for yours!

Friday Favorites – Lola Edition

It’s officially the day before my fur baby turns one. AND I CAN’T STAND IT. I don’t know where the time went. but it feels like just yesterday that we picked her up. And now she is turning one. If time goes this fast with a fur child – I don’t want to imagine how fast it goes by with a human! So in honor of my favorite girl – I’m sharing some of her favorite goodies.

Barkworthies Deer Antler Dog Chews – These. Are. Life. They are the only ting that last more than a few days in our house. This is primarily Lola’s favorite thing to use. When we go to bed at night she always brings this into the bedroom and occupies her self until she’s ready for bed.

Zukes Dog Treats – We tried every treat in the book for Lola when it came to training and the only ones she didn’t get sick of were Zukes. Now that she is pretty much trained theses are her treat when she comes in from going potty or when we practice her commands.

Barkworthies Odor-Free 6″ Bully Sticks – I don’t know how many of you have dogs, but Bully Sticks are another of Lola’s favorites. We don’t give them to her every night because she eats them in less than a half an hour, but these ones in my opinion are the best. We tried some from Pet Smart and Petco but the ones we tried there smelled. SO FREAKING BAD. I love these because they don’t smell at all and I can pick them up at Lola’s day care. Not many places sell the Barkworthies brand.

Nutro Crunchy Treats – These are Lola’s favorite crunchy treat, and also the treats we give her when we put her in her crate. I try to not mix the two types of treats we give her so she knows what each are for. It took a while to get her crate trained and now she is doing so good, she deserves the bigger treats for going in that thing all day.

Toy Moose – This is the only stuffed toy that Lola hasn’t ruined. It was also one of the first that we got her. It was so cute to watch her when she was a puppy try to run with it in her mouth, she was so tiny she would trip over it! I think she hasn’t ruined it yet because its her favorite stuffed toy she has and she likes to cuddle it when she sleeps.

We have such a fun day planned for her tomorrow and she is going to be one spoiled pup! And because I love her so much here are a few photos of our Lola girl ❤
