Fun Filled Weekend

The last weekend of January was a fun one for us. We headed into Boston Saturday night for one of our favorite artist….Eric Church, ugh he’s so sexy! (sorry babe!) He really put’s on one of the best concerts each and every time, and we have seen him three times. Going to concerts is by far one of my favorite things to do, especially when you get to spend time with great friends.

Sunday we picked up some paint samples for our bedroom! I am so happy that we have actually started to re-do it ūüôā

How was your last weekend of the month? I hope you all had a blast!

Our Master Inspiration Board

We have a few projects we want to tackle this year in terms of our humble home. We would like to get our basement finished, put a new deck in the backyard, and re-do our master bedroom. First up on our list is redoing our bedroom, I have spent so much time on Pinterest figuring out what I want to do with the tiny space and I finally have enough to make an inspiration board!

When we first bought our home, I wanted to move in asap, so¬†we did probably the stupidest thing…we painted every room in the house the same color, except for the bathroom. BAD IDEA. And now that I feel like my design likes have changed I have been itching to change our bedroom. It also doesn’t help that the furniture is mine from when I was in high school.

And of course, we can‚Äôt forget about the little things such as d√©cor.¬†We have a¬†mirror that¬†I purchased from Home Goods months ago – but¬†were waiting¬†to re-do the bedroom before putting it up. We have some photos on the wall that we need to decide if we want to keep them or change them out. We still need to decide on curtains, which to me is one¬†of the hardest things – lets just say we haven’t had any curtains hanging up in the bedroom since we moved in!

So, those are my¬†master bedroom ideas so far, but who’s to say they won’t change before its completed.

Travel Goals 2017

I can hardly believe that it is already the end of January with another fun weekend of the year down. I feel like the new year legit just started, but before I know it Lola is going to be 1! I am the crazy dog mom that has been trying to find a decently priced photographer to take some “cake smash” photos of her (yes I’m 100% serious, thanks to pinterest)

Now onto our travel goals for this year…

Each year Bobby and I try to take one big memorable trip, and while I love that I am definitely getting the urge to travel a bit more this year. Bobby & I have sat and talked about a few vacations we would like to take in the months ahead. There are a few places that we are definitely going to be going to but this year I also want us to be more spontaneous, camp a little more and explore New England and the east coast!

Our 2017 travel goals are below:

Portsmouth. We have a wedding for one of Bobby’s cousins coming up this summer in Portsmouth, and since it is about 2 hour drive we figured we would make a weekend out of it. There are some breweries that would be fun to check out while we are there!

Atlanta. Well the Falcons made the Super bowl this year, and their new stadium is going up before next season. We are patiently waiting for the 2017 schedule to come out so we can book our hotel and get this trip planned for the fall! I am real excited for this one Рand at the moment it is our priority trip. We are going to purchase a city pass so we can see the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, CNN Studio Tour, Zoo Atlanta, and the College Football Hall of Fame.

Vermont. One of our favorite things to do is camp. We would love to take a long weekend and go up north. Do a few nature walks with Lola girl and head to the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory.

Philadelphia. We have wanted to go for a trip since we went to Baltimore and drove by it. We want to go on a Cheesesteak tour and try them from the best places in Philly. There is so much history that this city has to offer and I am such a history buff so I can’t wait to book this trip! I am thinking the spring when the weather is nicer. We also noticed there was a city pass for here too so were gonna check that out!

New York City. This trip is already 100% planned with my family. My Grandma has ALWAYS wanted to be in NYC for the parade and since my Gramps has passed she has slowly been checking off all of the items they had on their bucket list. So we are heading to NYC for thanksgiving weekend! We are so excited to be able to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, skate on the rink at Rockefeller Center, and so much more!

I would REALLY like to do one international trip this year whether it be a tropical place or Europe it doesn’t matter to me, but that will depend on how our year goes and if I can finally convince Bobby to get his passport.

Do you have any trips you want to take this year? Have you been to the places above and do you have any fun tips while we are there?!

Weekend Recap

Hello Monday, I should have used my floater for you today! It took all we had to get out of bed and it didn’t help that Lola stayed in bed up until we had to leave, go figure during the weeks she wants to sleep in but on the weekends she wants to be up at the ass crack of dawn.

Saturday was a wonderful day with some of our family. We had them over for the football games that were on since we have fans of almost all 4 of the teams that played. Falcons vs. Seahawks game was a tough one, with men getting very angry in our house from the outcome. That game was so stressful! But we had a great spread of food! We had meat pie, buffalo chicken dip, wings, veggie & fruit platters, desserts and a few more yummy things.

Sunday we had a few errands to do – the usual target run and I needed to go to Barnes & Noble for a book I’ve been looking for. We then headed out to lunch with my side of the family for a winter birthdays lunch. My grandma took us all out for my moms, aunts, and uncles birthday since they are all a month apart. While we were all together we finalized our plans for our trip to New York City for Thanksgiving. I AM SO EXCITED. This is definitely a bucket list item for me and it will be fun to do with my whole family.

After lunch we headed to the batting cages for a bit and then home to relax and watch the Dallas vs. Green Bay game, this was another intense game that was important to Bobby. He was routing for Green Bay so the Falcons play at home this weekend.

All in all it was a very fun and relaxing weekend with enough going on but not so much where we are stressed out from being so busy.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Friday Favorites!

Hey Yall! I’m back today to share with you some of my favorites!

one || I got a new car! Well not brand new, but new to me so that’s all that matters. my lease was almost¬†up on my RAV4 so we went to the dealership to see what they had to offer and I walked away with a 2015 Toyota Corolla! I definitely miss my RAV but the Corolla is¬†all around better for my wallet.

two || my new cookbook, CRAVINGS by Chrissy Teigen. I have been a fan of her for a while Рshe beautiful, has great style, is funny, but most importantly she is REAL. when I read some articles about how great her mac & cheese was I knew I wanted her book. I was so happy when I unwrapped this baby on Christmas day! I made the Mac & Cheese for girls night last night and it lived up to my expectations for sure.

three || looking forward to the weekend. we have our family coming over for the football games tomorrow. I don’t know if I have mentioned it on here before but my hunny is a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan who lives in New England – weird I know, but since they are playing their playoff game its a big deal. And did I mention part of my family are Seahawks fans? So yeah it will be a fun night because then the rest of us Patriots fans get to watch that game. I would LOVE to see a Patriots vs. Falcons Super Bowl although it would be a rough night in our home ūüėČ

four || master bedroom reno. we are going to be redoing our “master” aka the bedroom that we sleep in, since our house technically doesn’t have a master. we are going to be painting and getting some new furniture. I am so excited! I am thinking of sharing a inspiration post in the coming weeks so I will keep ya posted.

Do you have any fun plans for this weekend, are any of you hoping for certain football teams to win?!

Luckiest Girl Alive: Book Review

15895124_1638983233070044_6635658619083981672_n

It’s official, Massachusetts got our first real snow of the year this past weekend thanks to Winter Storm Helena. My Lola girl loved it and I am not going to complain about it, because it allowed me to stay inside almost all weekend doing what I love: reading and baking. I was able to finally finish Luckiest Girl Alive, which has been sitting on my nightstand for far too long. Here are my thoughts.

Title: Luckiest Girl Alive
Author: Jessica Knoll
Genre: Mystery
Publication Date: 2015
Rating:¬†‚ėÖ‚ėÖ

Description

Her Perfect Life Is a Perfect Lie Ani FaNelli seems to have it all: a glamorous job at a glossy¬†magazine, an enviable figure with the wardrobe to match, and a handsome fianc√© from a distinguished blue-blood family. But Ani FaNelli is an invention, that veneer of perfection carefully assembled in an attempt to distance herself from a shocking, sordid past. As her wedding draws near, a documentary producer invites Ani to speak about the chilling incident that took place when she was a teenager at the prestigious Badley School. Determined once and for all to silence the whispers of suspicion and blame, Ani must weigh her options carefully, when telling the whole truth could destroy the picture-perfect life she’s worked so hard to create. With a singular voice and a twist you won’t see coming, Luckiest Girl Alive explores the deep-seated desire to fit in and the unbearable pressure that so many women feel to “have it all”. Ani FaNelli is a complex and vulnerable heroine – one whose sharp edges protect a truth that will move, scandalize, and surprise you.

Review

I picked up this book because it was compared to other major thrillers that I have loved in the past…and while this was a good and easy read, it was nothing like them. I didn’t actually find it interesting until the last part of the book when you find out the major life changing experience that Ani is referring to in her modern day narration. Here are a few reasons why I wouldn’t rank this book the best:

  1. too many controversial topics brought up but not covered to the extent that I would like
  2. narration switches that are not always easy to follow
  3. main character is not easily relatable

I have read that this is based off an experience that Jessica Knoll had and I would have liked this so much better if it was told in a different format. But if you’re into an easy read that keeps you thinking definitely give this one a read. It will keep you wondering what happened in the past that made Ani the way she is.
